COMIC legend Robin Williams has been farewelled at a private memorial at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre.
US media reports the ceremony was attended by hundreds of guests including Whoopi Goldberg, Seth Green, Ben Stiller, George Lucas and Danny DeVito.
The memorial was opened by long-time friend of Williams and fellow comedian Billy Crystal, who was “in tears” as he spoke, according to US Weekly magazine.
New York Daily News reports Whoopi Goldberg and Bonnie Hunt also spoke, as did Williams’ three children, Zelda, 25, Zak, 31, and Cody, 22, and his wife, Susan Schneider, 50.
“It was a true celebration from beginning to end. It was emotional, but it was also filled with incredible laughter,” one attendee told New York Daily News.

“Whoopi told an amazing anecdote about when Billy, Robin and she went to Washington D.C. to meet Ted Kennedy. It was something about Robin saying, ‘Okay, if Ted says he’ll drive, let’s regroup. Whoopi could barely get through it she was laughing so hard.”
Other celebrities in attendance included Eddie Izzard, Penny Marshall, Bette Midler, Joel McHale, Jeff Bridges, Josh Groban and Marlo Thomas.
The service, which included a musical tribute by Stevie Wonder with the Glide Memorial choir, was followed by a reception at the nearby Westin St. Francis Hotel.
Robin Williams took his own life on 11 August at his home in San Francisco, prompting outpourings of grief from all over the world.
It was later revealed he was suffering from early-stage Parkinson’s disease, with one friend suggesting he feared it would stop him cycling and lead him into addiction again.
