Meanwhile, Carlton may need a third party to lure GWS swingman Kristian Jaksch to Visy Park. The Blues are frantically trying to find a way to get Jaksch, who is keen on joining them, but don’t have the draft picks that would make the move straight-forward.
Carlton doesn’t want to part with pick No.6 and concedes its second-round selection (No.26) isn’t enough to satisfy the Giants, creating the need for outside parties.

Football manager Andrew McKay admitted the club’s hunt for the 196cm 90kg Victorian key forward had stagnated.

“It’s looking increasingly difficult,” McKay said.
“We’re really keen to get him still. But we understand we’ve got a lot of work to do to make that happen.”
Jaksch, who has become the target of several rival clubs, was a No.12 pick two years ago but was hobbled by a knee injury in his debut year and struggled for opportunities this year.
The Blues had also been linked to Jaksch’s teammate Jono O’Rourke, but were never totally committed to recruiting him and believe he is instead headed for Hawthorn.

Any deal with Jaksch won’t involve Mitch Robinson or Jeff Garlett, with the Giants not interested and having to downsize their list.
But the Blues are confident it can strike deals elsewhere for both of those players, whose off-field behaviour has put them on the trade table.
Garlett met with Essendon this week and has also attracted interest from Melbourne. Robinson is still in the frame at the Brisbane Lions.
Out-of-favour midfielder Kane Lucas, the No.12 pick in 2009, has been told he can leave if the Blues can be satisfied with a rival club offer. He is out of contract.
Carlton is expected to secure Western Bulldogs forward Liam Jones soon after the trade period opens on Monday. Jones has agreed to terms with the Blues and both clubs are believed to be satisfied pick No.43 is a sufficient swap.
Jones’ teammate Jason Tutt should get to the Blues in exchange for Carlton’s fourth round pick, No.62.
Carlton expects to receive a pick in the third round as compensation for losing forward Jarrad Waite to North Melbourne.
