Prince Amukamara (left) is having a breakout year for the New York Giants. Source: AFP IF YOU don’t know anything about New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara, just know that he’s actually next in line to be Chief of Awo-Omamma in the Imo State of Nigeria.
He’s also having the best season of his career.
And, oh yeah, he’s finally getting laid.
Due to strict Christian beliefs, Amukamara abstained from sex until marriage, and while that got him some ribbing from teammates during his first two seasons in New York, he never really let it get to him.
However, after his marriage during the summer off-season, teammates are starting to notice that not only has his swag increased in the locker room, but his play on the field has improved, too.
“There are a lot of things different about Prince,” Giants safety Antrel Rolle told NJ.com.
“For one, he’s married, so he’s (enjoying some things that he wasn’t experiencing before he’s married). For a man, that could definitely help him out.
“For a man … I’m just being honest … it’s helping him out. He walks around with a little more swagger, which is something that we need, which is something that we love.
There’s a reason Prince Amukamara’s smile is so big. Source: Getty Images “Prince is a guy that keeps everyone upbeat. He’s a funny guy, but when he goes out there playing, you definitely see him being more aggressive, capitalising on his opportunities and he’s accepting challenges. He’s winning those challenges.”
So far, Amukamara has already set a career high with two interceptions.
“I think it all ties into one another, as far as him getting married, being able to [have sex],” Rolle added.
“He’s just developing more as a man and accepting challenges and being the dominant player that we need him to be that we know he’s capable of.”
A big part of Amukamara’s job is breaking up passes, just like this. Source: AFP Responding to Rolle’s comments, Amukamara said: “I know Antrel meant no harm towards it.
“Me and Antrel always joke around; not about stuff like that. I don’t know what to say.
“I felt it was comical. I know I’ll have a lot of explaining to do to my wife because I know her phone is probably blowing up. But out of respect for her, I don’t want to comment on what happens in mine and my wife’s house.
“But to talk about my play, I thought I prepared great this off-season — physically and mentally.
“Antrel actually has been helping me a lot.
“With all those ingredients, I feel that is why I’m playing how I’m playing.”
